# Create a brand (/docs/brands/create)

Only `name` is required, but a complete record makes later requests shorter.

```bash
curl -X POST https://api.trackee.dev/v1/brands \
  -H "x-access-key: YOUR_ACCESS_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "name": "Acme",
    "domain": "acme.com",
    "aliases": ["Acme Inc."],
    "category": "Project management",
    "location": "United States",
    "engines": ["chatgpt", "claude", "gemini", "perplexity"],
    "prompts": [
      "What is the best project management software for startups?",
      "Which project management tool is easiest to adopt?"
    ],
    "competitors": ["Linear", "Asana", "Monday.com"],
    "keywords": ["project management software", "project management tool"]
  }'
```

The response returns the saved record in `data`. Keep `data.id`; Trackee expects that value as `brandId` in other workflows.

## Write useful prompts [#write-useful-prompts]

Prompts should resemble questions your audience asks. Mix several types:

* **Category:** “What is the best project management software?”
* **Audience:** “What project management tool is best for a ten-person startup?”
* **Problem:** “How can a remote team keep projects on schedule?”
* **Comparison:** “Acme vs. Asana for product teams.”

Avoid prompts that force the answer to mention your brand. “Tell me why Acme is the best” measures compliance with the prompt, not organic visibility.

See the complete [`POST /v1/brands` reference](/docs/api/brands/createBrand) for limits and response fields.
