# Rankings and competitors (/docs/seo-research/rankings-and-competitors)

## Check one target query [#check-one-target-query]

Pass a domain directly, or use a saved brand's domain with `brandId`.

```bash
curl -X POST https://api.trackee.dev/v1/rank \
  -H "x-access-key: YOUR_ACCESS_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "keyword": "project management software",
    "brandId": "BRAND_ID",
    "location": "United States",
    "device": "desktop"
  }'
```

A rank check costs 1 credit. The response returns `position: null` when the domain does not appear in the checked results.

`ai_overview.present` tells you whether Google showed an AI Overview. `ai_overview.cited` tells you whether it cited the target domain.

## Find competing domains [#find-competing-domains]

```bash
curl -X POST https://api.trackee.dev/v1/competitors \
  -H "x-access-key: YOUR_ACCESS_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "keywords": [
      "project management software",
      "project management tool for startups"
    ],
    "location": "United States",
    "language": "English",
    "limit": 20
  }'
```

The response ranks competing domains by visibility and includes average position and estimated traffic value. The request costs 5 credits.

SERP competitors are domains that rank for the same queries. They may differ from the brands you track as AI competitors.

See the [rank](/docs/api/rank/getRank) and [competitors](/docs/api/competitors/getCompetitors) API reference pages.
